World Book Day Cooking

Reception had an African theme for World Books day. We read stories set in African countries, including ‘Handa’s Surprise’ and ‘Hot Hippo.’  We also did some cooking, using recipes from African countries. We made chakalaka, which is a kind of spicy vegetable stew, and miele brood (corn bread.) We had to chop and slice the vegetables, grate the carrots and mix everything together. Everything tasted amazing!

Nursery and Reception have been learning about how the Police help us. Mr Swindells came to visit us at school. He told us about his job and showed us his uniform. We enjoyed trying on hats and uniforms and practised saying STOP! Thank you Mr Swindells for a fantastic morning.
